Personal care giant Kimberly-Clark has committed to halving its global environmental footprint by 2030, as part of a new sustainability strategy that covers issues such as emissions, forestry, water and plastics.
Published on July 8, the new sustainability strategy replaces Kimberly-Clark's previous "Sustainability 2022" framework, after most of its goals were exceeded.
The recent strategy contains commitments Chile Mobile Number List to halve the use of virgin fossil-based plastics, the forest footprint and carbon emissions within a decade. Forestry targets are relative to the 2011 baseline and carbon targets are relative to the 2015 baseline.
To achieve the plastics target , Kimberly-Clark will accelerate its work to meet the targets of the WRAP UK Plastics Pact, which requires signatories to:
Eliminate plastics whenever possible.
Develop recyclable, compostable or reusable formats when they are not.
Get more recycled content.
Work with policy makers to improve waste management.
Regarding forestry , Kimberly-Clark is already sourcing 100% of its fiber from certified sources. It will now strive to increase its recycled fiber sources from 31% in 2019 and provide suppliers with more resources and funding to fight biodiversity loss and climate change and to empower indigenous communities who depend on the forests for their subsistence.
Forestry is one of the company's largest environmental focuses, given its dependence on forest resources to produce most of its packaging and products. Its forest footprint was 31% lower in 2019 than in 2011.
On climate , Kimberly-Clark recently announced that its new emissions targets had improved thanks to the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
